My BMW E32


A month ago i bought myself a daily car. Here are some details about it. The car was bought for 580 USD, so the state of the car was really bad. However my friends from Diveriks.lt managed to repair it and now it is working pretty well.

Patarimas: BMW detalės

Stereotipas
Žmonės kažkodėl galvoja, jog pirkti originalią ir naują detalę yra visiška nesąmonė. Juk ji bus be galo brangi, kainuos ketvirtį automobilio, todėl net nebandyk eiti pas oficialų atstovą ir ieškotis reikiamos detalės. Juk žymiai geriau nueiti i savartyną (šrotą) ir nusipirkti ją pusvelčiui.
Realybė
Sutinku, jog kai kurios naujos originalios BMW detalės yra itin brangios, tačiau tikrai yra ir tokių, kurios kainuoja netgi pigiau nei savartynuose. Nesenai pats tuo įsitikinau. Praeitame poste numatomuose atlikti darbuose yra punktas "Oro padavimo šlanga", paklausęs savo meistro apie detalės kainą išgirdau nelabai guodžiantį atsakymą - "naujos nepirk, nes kainuos apie 400 Lt...". Visgi surizikavau ir nuėjęs į Krasta Auto puslapį paieškojau. Rezultatas tikrai nustebino , visiškai nauja ir originali detalė tekainavo 64 Lt, kai tuo tarpu už tokią pat naudotą ir sunkiai nuspėjamos būklės savartyne paprašė 50 Lt.

Taigi, prieš nurašydami oficialius atstovus, kurie parduoda naujas originalias detales, gerai pagalvokite ar patys neapsigaunate.

Remontas baigtas

Taigi, pagaliau pabaigti remonto darbai.. Uz viską, įskaitant numerių keitimą, sumokėta 1210 Lt + bauda 200 Lt. Taigi, kaip ir iš pradžų skaičiuota, viskas atsiėjo ~1500 Lt...

Atlikti darbai:
  • Ištiesintas priekinis keleivio pusės lanžeronas ~8cm.
  • Pakeistas ir perdažytas priekinis kelevio sparnas.
  • Pakeistas priekinis bamperis su balkiu.
  • Pakeistos grotelės priekinės kleivio pusės.
  • Ištiesintas ir perdažytas kapotas.
  • Pakeisti liambda zondo laidai.
  • Įdėtas langų apipurškimo varikliukas.
  • Pakeistas priekinis keleivio pusės posūkis.
  • Pakeistas priekinių keleivio pusės lempų laikiklis.
  • Pakeistas aušinimo skystis.
  • Pakeista galiniio keleivio pusės posūkio lemputė.
  • Sutvarkytas bardačiokas.
  • Pakeisti valstybiniai numeriai.
Būsimi darbai:
  • Variklio oro padavimo šlanda įtrūkus, reikia keisti.
  • Priešrūkiniai žibintai ne to modelio, parduoti/pakeisti į reikiamus.
  • Priekinė keleivio sėdynė nevažinėja, nutrūkęs troselis.

My purchase

At last... After more than 3 months of searching and disappointment i finally found a worth to buy BMW E34 M50B25. In this post i will try to overview the pluses and minuses of the car, what needs to be fixed and of course the prices.

Good cars don't stick in the online ad sites too much, so as soon as new ad appeared i called the guy. The car was quite good looking in the photos. It was a 1992 BMW E34 Sedan with an M50B25 engine., the price in the ad was 1800€. After a test drive i decided not to wait any longer and bought the car for 1710€. The price is quite high compared with others these year E34's, but have a look what it has.

The details
First of all, it has a working condition system with 2 section climate control, it is very rare that air conditioning works in these year cars and the repair of it costs a lot. Moreover it has electric mirrors, electric windshield, electric front and rear windows, but the driver rear window engine is missing. It also has heated front seats. Whole interior is relatively in good condition. The best thing is that this E34 has the M style bumpers, sideskirts and spoiler. Together with 16" alloys 225/45 in front and 245/45 in the rear it looks great.

The engine
At first looked and sounded great. But after checking the compression i was a little bit sad. It was ~20% lower than the original one. For now i did not test the car on dyno stand, but most probably that the power and torque amount lost is about the same as in compression. What is even more sad, the generator mechanism and generator belt are almost dead, the cooling system has a leak and from somewhere engine leaks oil. This part of car will need most fixing...

The body
The body of my E34 is in good condition, i did not see any signs of rust. The bad thing is that the front passenger wing is damaged a little bit and the front bumper was lost in the very first days of test drives after buying the car.


The budget and photos
In the next post i will overview the chassis and interior of the car. Seems that there will also be what to fix. So far i spent 1864€ - 1710€ the car, 125€ for insurance for half a year, 9€ for registration of the car and 20€ for diagnostics of engine and chassis. My budget for BMW E34

My budget is rather small, but the car i am looking for is old, so it should not cost too much. Of course there are some cars of perfect condition, which cost more than 3000€, but i am looking for car which looks quite bad and needs fixing, therefore i decided not to spend more than 2000€ on the car itself.
The insurance of the car in Lithuania will cost for me about 150€. Engine and other car tests will require another 50€-150€.
So.. All in all in order to buy my dream car - the BMW E34 - i will need NOT less than 2200€.

A week ago form this post, i already had this sum in my pocket, so now let's start the search for the car.

Why i started this blog?

The beginning

Everything started when i bought a tiny car - Ford Fiesta '93 with 1.3 liter petrol engine... The car was noisy, had almost none power and had no comfort at all. I spent 1200€ on it. After half a year of being a Ford Fiesta owner i decided to buy a new car.
I had two options - to buy a newer small car OR to buy a bigger and more powerful one. I decided to go bigger. My budget is 2000€ - 2500€, that is really not much. The ideal choice was to buy a BMW E30 or BMW E34. Because of the age of E30's it is very difficult to find not rusty car with a not dead engine i decided to buy E34. So with 2000€ in my pocket i started searching...

Problems

As i started searching i realized that i have almost no information on how to check if the car is in good condition or not. I had to read a lot of wikipedia pages and various sites to get the info i needed. By creating this blog i hope to write all the information here to make your search easier. The first thing to check is the price.

BMW E34 price

The prices of BMW E34 varies from ~250€ to almost 4000€. All of them are made between 1988 to 1995. The cars with air conditioning are a little bit more expensive and quite difficult to find, however the main problem is, that almost none of them are working ones. Later on i will post some of the reviewed cars with the prices. The first question i had to answer, what's the difference between a E34 for 250€ and E34 for 2000€?
